Mr. Burton "Max" Godley, age 78, a resident of 5329 NC 33 East, Chocowinity, NC died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center. The family will hold a private service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Hillside Funeral Service.
Mr. Godley was born on December 16, 1931 in Washington, NC, son of the late Mr. Lewis Burton Godley and Elsie Berry Godley. He was married to Loyce Smith Godley who preceded him in death on January 3, 2010. He graduated from Chocowinity High School. Mr. Godley served in the United States Navy. Max farmed and later joined Cargill Incorporated, where he worked until his retirement.
He is survived by one daughter, Leigh Godley of Cudjoe Key, FL.
