Mabel Wynne Cullipher Roberson

WILLIAMSTON — Mabel Wynne Cullipher Roberson went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Nancy Bullock Wynne and was raised in Bear Grass NC. Mabel married Ervin C. Cullipher in 1941 and they raised their family in Norfolk VA. Ervin passed away in 1975. Mabel worked as a nurse and office manager for Pediatric Specialists for many years. She later married Albert Roberson and moved to Williamston NC in 1985. They were married for 23 years until Albert’s death in 2009. She was an active member of Reddicks Grove Baptist Church. Mabel participated in the Ladies Circles at the church and service to her community. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mabel enjoyed being active and useful and spent many hours cooking, sewing, quilting, fishing and gardening.
She was predeceased by a brother Eli M. Wynne and sister Ruby Wynne Modlin. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ervin R. Cullipher and wife Mary of Chesapeake VA, Kenneth A. Cullipher and wife Lynda of Charlotte, daughter Margaret Cullipher Schweer and husband Larry of Murrieta,, CA., and a son by marriage Albert Roberson Jr. and wife Sharon of Williamston, brother Jack Wynne of Williamston, sister Mildred Cherry of Windsor, grandchildren Holly, Jon, Amy, Chris, Michelle, Allison, Merae, Josh, Daniel, Jon C., Noah, Caleb, Hannah and also 18 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Reddicks Grove Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16th. A graveside service will follow on Saturday July 17th at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Reddicks Grove Baptist Church. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the community for their outpouring of love, prayers, and devotion to our mother.
