Mr. Geary Brown

Mr. James “Geary” Brown, age 61, a resident of 1132 Wharton Station Road, Washington died Wednesday July 21, 2010.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday July 24, 2010 at the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington, officiated by Eddie Bowen and David Thompson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Terry Weatherington, Michael Walker, Kenny Beacham, Larry Linton, Johnnie Woolard and Gregory Whitehurst will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Eastern Antique Power Association will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Brown was born in Beaufort County on February 3, 1949, son of the late James Henry “Tommy” Brown and Ruby Alligood Brown. He was a certified electrician and was owner/operator of Carolina A/C &Electric. He was also a contractor for Tideland Electric. Mr. Brown was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ and the Eastern Antique Power Association.
He is survived by his daughter: Angela Brown Hawley and her husband, Jonathan of Willow Springs; his sisters: Brinda Brown Smith and her husband, Donnie of Chocowinity and Linda Brown Whitehurst and her husband, Tommy of Grimesland; his brother: Ronnie Lewis Brown of Winnabow, NC; his grandchildren: Kellie Brooke Hawley, Madison Paige Hawley and Cameron Jade Hawley, his special friend: Trudy Hardy and her two daughters: Kortney and Nicole; 9 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Timothy Lane Brown. With the death of his mother, he was raised by his aunt Mary Brown Hopkins and her husband, the late Bennie Ray Hopkins with his personal “adopted sister” Mary Susan Hopkins Williams and her husband, Vic.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of Mary Louise Hopkins located at 952 Wharton Station Road.
