RICHMOND — Cecelia Sherfey, 82, went peacefully home to be with her Lord July 25th, 2010. She was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 47 years. She is survived by 4 sons: David of Jacksonville, Florida, Steve and wife Laurie of Norfolk, Virginia, Peter of Richmond, Virginia, and Paul of Richmond, Virginia, and a granddaughter, Audrey Lillian, of Norfolk, Virginia.
Born and raised in Washington, North Carolina, Cecelia met and married her handsome Marine husband there in 1952, and moved with him and their growing family many times throughout his military career, making many deep and abiding lifelong friendships over the years and miles. Cecelia cherished her family, friends, and neighbors greatly, and was greatly loved for her gentle kindness, generosity and unfailing sense of humor.
Many of her happiest years were spent in Norfolk, Virginia, and her funeral will be held there at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1500 Kempsville Rd, where she was a faithful member for many years. The service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 29th, with a graveside service to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
