Mr. Oliver Creech Evans, age 79, a resident of Washington, died Thursday August 5, 2010.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday August 8, 2010 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Derik Davis.
Mr. Evans was born in Nash County on July 30, 1931 to the late Herman and Oradell Mary Rose Evans. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Evans continued his career in law enforcement serving as Sergeant with the Washington Police Department where he was the first motorcycle patrol officer and also at the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department and as a security officer for many local businesses.
Survivors include his daughter, Pat Tyson and husband Jerome of Washington; one granddaughter, Heather L. Cherry of Washington; one grandson, Jacob Tyson of Washington and two great grandchildren, Emaleigh Grace Cherry and Trey Cherry. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Rose Evans Padgette.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday August 7, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of Jerome and Pat Tyson, 112 Hillingdale Dr., Washington.
