Mrs. Dora H. Brinson, age 73, a former resident of Captain’s Cove, Washington, died Saturday, August 7, 2010.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with the Reverend Doug Batchelor officiating. Members of the E.B. “Red” Brinson Washington Memorial VFW Post 6088 are providing pallbearers. Mrs. Brinson was a member of Love Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brinson was born April 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Henry W. Hoffman and Virginia Sadler Hoffman of Phoebus, VA. She married the love of her life, the late Elmer “Red” Brinson on April 18, 1953, who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Bridgman, husband, Maurice; Jennifer Schmitt, husband, Kurt; one son, Elmer Brinson, Jr., wife Jill; one brother, Henry S. Hoffman. Grandchildren – Stacy Brinson Phillips, Chris Brinson, Megan Bridgman Lands, Jami Brinson, Johnathan Schmitt, Greyson Schmitt, and Baylee Schmitt. Great-grandchildren – Sara Brinson, Samantha Phillips, Kamryn Emineth, Kaedin Weeks, and Dayja Weeks.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Jennifer Schmitt, 101 Bluegill Drive, Tranters Run, Washington.
A special thanks to Mary Curlings and the staff of the Alzheimer’s Unit at Britthaven, Washington, for the love and care they provided.
