Henry Henk Van Staalduinen, age 86, a resident of 3352 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, NC went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 16, 2010, at Hillside Funeral Service of Washington, NC, officiated by Rev. Calvin Tuininga and Rev. John Tigchelaar. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 3:00-5:00PM at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home. Pallbearers are John, Kenneth, Casey, Carl, Mark and Steven Van Staalduinen Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Ellis Myers, Leroy Alons, Don Hubers, Randy Hubers, Case Van Wyk, John Griekspoor, Edward Boerema and Hendrick Van Dorp Jr.
Mr. Van Staalduinen was born on January 9, 1924 in S Gravenzande, Netherlands, son of the late Leonard Van Staalduinen and Cornelia Van Dersar Van Staalduinen. He married Johanna Anne Vander Vliet on March 18, 1946, his wife of 64 years.
Henk was a retired farmer. He was a former member of the Terra Ceia Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Covenant United Reformed Church. He served on the board of directors of Terra Ceia Christian School. Also, Henk was a foster parent to many foster children.
Mr. Henry Van Staalduinen is survived by his wife, Johanna Anne Vander Vliet Van Staalduinen of Pantego, NC; two daughters, Joann Lilley and husband, Marshall of Pinetown, NC and Elizabeth Wallace of Washington, NC; one son, Steven Van Staalduinen and wife Sherry of Ayden, NC; three sisters, Cornelia Van Staalduinen, Martina Ipema, and Jacoba Bouman; three brothers, Hugh Van Staalduinen, William Bill Van Staalduinen and Martin Van Staalduinen; eight grandchildren, Steven Van Staalduinen Jr., Stacey Berry, Sarah Wallace, Ashley Lilley, Justin Lilley, Kimberly Wallace, Alida Van Staalduinen and Meredith Noel Bennett; five great-grandchildren, Austin Van Staalduinen, Kelly Van Staalduinen, Alexander Cliff, Nicholas Berry and Alex Wallace; one brother-in-law, John Tigchelaar; and two sister-in-laws, Barbara Van Staalduinen and Holly Van Staalduinen. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alida Van Staalduinen; a son, Thomas Van Staalduinen; a sister Gerda Tigchelaar; two brothers, Leonard Van Staalduinen Jr. and Cornelis Van Staalduinen; a granddaughter, Rebekah Van Staalduinen; and a sister-in-law, Jane Van Staalduinen.
