Mrs. Esther Rice Mayo, age 56, a resident of 1120 Taylor Road, Chocowinity, NC died Friday August 13, 2010 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday August 16, 2010 at the Elks Family Cemetery of the Hodges Road Chocowinity, NC officiated by Pastor Ronnie Gurganus. A memorial service will follow at Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Beaufort County on June 23, 1954 daughter of the late Leonard Leon Rice and Grace Juanita Harris Rice who survives. She was a 1972 graduate of Aurora High School and attended Beaufort County Community College. Mrs. Mayo married Orin G. Mayo on October 20, 1972 who survives. She was a member of Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving along with her husband Orin of the home and mother Grace of Aurora is a daughter: Jennifer Renee Mayo of Chocowinity; two sons: Daniel Cameron Mayo and his wife Christy of Chocowinity and Timothy David Mayo of Chocowinity. Mrs. Mayo was preceded in death by two brothers: Gerald Freeman Rice and Leonard Erwin “Lenny” Rice.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Mayo’s son Daniel located at 868 Old Blounts Creek Road, Chocowinity, NC.
