Mr. Dennis “Woodrow” Boyd, Jr., age 68, a former resident of Pocosin Road, Pinetown, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at his home in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Bobby Wallace, Jr. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Bill Shavender, Roland Hamilton, Cecil Lilley, Benjamin Boyd, Scott Swink, and Robbie Swink.
Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on August 14, 1942. He was the son of the late Dennis Woodrow Boyd, Sr. and Hattie Elizabeth Lilley Boyd. Mr. Boyd served in the National Guard. He was a sheeter operator in the Fine Paper Division of Weyerhaeuser, retiring in 2006 with 41 years of service. Mr. Boyd was a member of Everetts Church of Christ.
On July 9, 1965, Mr. Boyd married the former Peggy Hamilton, who preceded him in death, July 3, 2005.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his daughter, Tracy Boyd Pellin and her husband, Mark of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Olivia Pellin and Nathaniel Pellin both of Charlotte; two sisters, Susan Boyd of Washington, Sybil Wallace of Pinetown; and two brothers, Larry Boyd of Washington and Mark A. Boyd of Pinetown.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of his sister, Sybil Wallace, 1075 Biggs Road, Pinetown.
