Knights 'paddle' Cougars|Plymouth runs past Edenton-Holmes

Riverside won the first-ever Battle for the Paddle as it topped South Creek 42-0 in the schools’ first-ever meeting between the Four Rivers Conference rivals. Knights’ Running back Quinton Lawrence ran for two touchdowns, while Jamal Whitehurst and K.J. Brown each ran for one. Riverside quarterback Luke Mathews threw a TD pass to Everette Paschal and ran for a TD to help the Knights improve to 3-0. With the loss, South Creek dropped to 2-0 on the season.
Plymouth 36, Edenton 21
The Vikings continued to flex their high-powered offense as they ran by Edenton 36-21 on Friday night. Ronnell Blount gashed the Aces’ defense for 170 yards, while Elmer Cooper tallied 59 rushing yards and one score. Running back Cevin Norman rumbled for 81 yards and three touchdowns, while Carl McCray tallied 48 yards and a TD.
Those four backs accounted for over 350 rushing yards, while quarterback Akeem Cooper went 4-for-6 for 89 passing yards. The win improves Plymouth’s record to a perfect 3-0 as they head into their next game at Northampton-West next Friday.
