Mrs. Mary Gladys Emery Lewis, age 86, a resident of 15614 NC 33 Hwy. East, Blounts Creek, died Thursday September 2, 2010 at Countryside Nursing and Rehab in Pilot Point, TX.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday September 18, 2010 at Warren Memorial Cemetery officiated by Pastor Ray Webb.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on November 4, 1923, daughter of the late George Dewey and Bettie Alminnie Gay Emery. She retired from Hamilton Beach where she worked as a line tester of small appliances. On January 11, 1940 she married Raymond M. Lewis, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 18, 1991.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her children, Raymond M. Lewis, Jr., Robert Swindell Lewis, Iris Faye Leary, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Compton and Linda Carol Lewis; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mamie Louise Johnson, Elizabeth “Libby” Cribb and Virginia Ruth Faw.
The family will visit with friends following the service at the gravesite.
