Edsoll “Howard” Hunnings, 81, of Olympia, passed away at home with family and friends by his side.
He was founder and owner of Hunnings Inc.-Truck Parts &Accessories since 1958. He was a member of Broad Creek Christian Church and a member of the Olympia Vol. Fire Dept. as well as a member of the Piedmont Area Bounders. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Jackson Hunnings and Betty Phillips Hunnings, his sister, Helen H. Stark and his brother, John Jackson Hunnings, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Speight Hunnings; his son, Edsoll Jackson Hunnings and special companion, Linda Hines; his daughter, Lynette H. Spencer and husband, Robert “Bobby” Spencer. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Jurene S. Anderson and Beatrice S. Honnett, both of New Bern; nieces, Gail Stovall and husband, Bill Stovall of Core Point, Gertie Caraway and husband, John Dee Caraway of New Bern, Irene Hardison and husband, Van Hardison of New Bern and Janice Millns of New Bern; nephew, Pete Anderson Jr. of New Bern; and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 23, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chuck Holton, Kenneth Dixon and Steve Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, at Bryant Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 4247 Hwy 55 E., Olympia.

The family business, Hunnings Inc., will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22 and reopen Friday morning, September 24.
