Mrs. Lucille Beddard Briley, 86, of Ayden, died Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Elm Grove OFWB Church officiated by Dr. Frankie Baggett and Rev. Charles Branch. Burial will follow in Ayden Cemetery.
Mrs. Briley was a lifetime resident of the Littlefield community and was a member of Elm Grove OFWB Church. She was involved with Meals on Wheels for many years. She was active in her church and community. She enjoyed baking cakes and helping her neighbors in any way she could. Mrs. Briley was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Briley and a son Wayland Briley; her sisters, Edna, Thelma, Nan and Betty and brothers, J.T. and William; several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Briley and wife Joan S. Briley of Grifton; three daughters, Diane B. Meadows and husband Lonnie of Ormondsville, Donna B. Hodges and husband Tommy of Washington, and Delores B. Bell and husband Scott of Grimesland; two brothers, Walter Beddard and wife Gladys of Ayden and Garland Beddard of Ayden; three grandchildren, Dana Hedgepeth, Kelly Meadows and Wayland Hodges and wife Debbie; three great-grandchildren, Dane and Beau Hedgepeth and Brooke Hodges.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church and other times at 380 East Littlefield Road, Ayden.
