Mrs. Lillie Bright McVicker, age 68, a resident of 358 James Lane, Chocowinity, died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Pastor Debra Paul and Rev. David Linton. Burial will follow in Twin Oaks Cemetery, James Lane, Chocowinity.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Timmy Craig, Ronnie Godley, Casey Voliva, Glynn Bright, Brandon Harding and Billy Craig.
Tonio Torres, Danny Midgette, Michael Craig and Tim Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. McVicker was born in Chocowinity on September 8, 1942. She was the daughter of the late William Churchill “Boot” Bright and Annie Maude Ball Bright. Mrs. McVicker worked at Hamilton Beach and later became a hairdresser. She had attended Chocowinity Church of God.
Mrs. McVicker loved watching her grandchildren play and enjoyed feeding everyone. No one left her house hungry. She loved going to Tarheel Variety Theater with her sister. Mrs. McVicker had a green thumb and grew the prettiest flowers.
Mrs. McVicker was married to James D. McVicker, who preceded her in death, August 3, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky McVicker and wife, Pam, Jamie McVicker and wife, Wanda, all of Chocowinity; a daughter, Kathy Tripp and husband, Randy of Washington; two brothers, Bobby Bright and wife, Marie of Washington, J.R. Bright and wife, Mary of Chocowinity; a sister, Jean Carrow and husband, Rayvon of Chocowinity; six grandchildren, Ryan McVicker and Daniel McVicker both of Chocowinity, D.J. Tripp of Washington, Megan Voliva and husband, Casey of Columbia, Matthew Norris and Tonio Torres both of Chocowinity; sister in law, Myrtie Bright of Washington; and god sister, Faye Edwards of Chocowinity.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. McVicker was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Bright and son in law, William Gilbert Bright.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 358 James Lane, Chocowinity.
