Bettye Jane Keech, age 67, a resident of 6254 Free Union Church Rd., Pinetown, NC, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Pitt Memorial Hospital. Due to her wishes, no services will be held. The family will receive friends at the home.
Mrs. Keech was born on October 20, 1942 in Perquimans County, NC, daughter of the late Harry Cason Overton and Bettie Louise Skinner Overton. She graduated from Perquimans High School in 1960. She married Dallas W. Keech on November 27, 1962, who survives. Mrs. Keech was also a member of the Free Union FWB Church.
Along with her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Shirley Keech of Jacksonville, NC; one granddaughter, Brittany Jones of Pinetown, NC; three brothers, Elmer Overton of Edenton, NC, Bobby Overton of Wurtland, KY and Carl Overton of Hampton, VA; four sisters, Sallie Hare of Edenton, NC, Shelby Hopkins of Renton, WA, Nell Seymour of Elizabeth City, NC and Helen Hunter of Hertford, NC. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Cason Overton Jr., George Edward Overton, and James Alton Overton; and one sister, Shirley Overton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown St, Washington, NC 27889.
