The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says a Bath man found dead in his home Thursday is the victim of a homicide, according to sheriff’s Capt. Kenny Watson.
Leonard Alfred Willson III, reportedly 53 years old, was discovered dead in his residence at 115 S. Main St. by deputies after noon Thursday, Watson said.
The sheriff’s office responded the Wilson’s residence after receiving a telephone call from one of Wilson’s neighbors who went to check on him, Watson said. Willson was wheelchair-bound, according to some media reports.
The sheriff’s office is proceeding with its investigation, he said.
Authorities were awaiting results of an autopsy, which could determine the cause of death.
Anyone with information concerning the death is asked to call Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 974-6400. Callers are not required to provide their names. Callers may be eligible for rewards up to $1,000.
Additional details of the death and investigation were not made available by the Washington Daily News’ deadline Friday.
