Mr. Jessie Ray Norris, 83, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Norris was a native of Pitt County and had spent all his life in the Clarks Neck Community in Washington. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and was later employed with the City of Washington for 40 years. Mr. Norris was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Norris, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Morgan Norris.
He is survived by his: wife of 63 years, Fannie Louise Lynch Norris; sons, Jessie “Ray Jr.” Norris and wife, Gail, of Washington, and Kenneth E. Norris and wife, Rae, of Washington; four grandchildren, Jessie Ray Norris, III, Chris Norris, Holly Patrick and husband, Keith, and Chuck Norris; and three great-grandchildren, Krista, Abby, and Jay Norris.
The family received friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
