Delphia Marie Blackburn Herald, 92, a resident of the Brian Center, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010. She was born in Yeager, KY on May 31, 1918 to the late Adolph and Spicy Ann Johnson Blackburn and was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Luther D. Herald, Sr. on November 12, 2009. Marie, a homemaker, was a member of Beachlawn Baptist Church in Va. Beach, Va. and attended Snug Harbor Community Church in Hertford, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Snug Harbor Community Church by the Rev. Stanley Nixon. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Potters Cemetery, Yeager, KY.
Survivors include her sons: Luther D. Herald, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Lacy E. Herald of Windsor, NC and James T. Herald of Hertford, NC; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
