Ms. Percillia Dean Hawkins Bright, age 60, a resident of 580 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, conducted by Jason Kirkman.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Fonzie Crisp, Timmy Tyson, Philip Tyson, Daniel Tyson, Justin Tyson, and Guy Woolard.
Ms. Bright was born in Beaufort County on October 8, 1950. She was the daughter of Mary Ruth Polly Smith Hawkins and the late Lawrence Hawkins, Jr. Ms. Bright was a retired child nutrition assistant with the Beaufort County Schools, working at Southside High School. She was a member of the Haw Branch Church of Christ.
Ms. Bright loved watching movies and reading books. She collected English Bulldog figurines. Ms. Bright liked to travel, especially to the beach. While at the beach, she loved to fish with her granddaughters, Breanna and Darien, who were the apple of her eye. Ms. Bright enjoyed family gatherings and would fight you for a steak and baked potato.
Ms. Bright is survived by her son, Bennie Bright, Jr. and his wife, Christina of Washington; two granddaughters, Breanna and Darien Bright of Washington; her mother, Mary Ruth Polly Smith Hawkins of Chocowinity; two sisters, Janice Grissom and her husband, Philip of Chocowinity and Evelyn Tyson and her husband, Bobby of Washington; brother-in-law, Billy Ray Hannah of Washington and ex-husband, Bennie Bright, Sr. of Washington.
In addition to her father, Ms. Bright was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Jean Hannah.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of her sister, Janice Grissom, 150 Union Chapel Road, Chocowinity.
