A beautiful soul, full of grace, who loved greatly and was greatly loved, left this earth to be with God.
Diana Rose Sadler Williams was born April 8, 1944 to Hazel Thompson and the late Charlie Eugene Sadler and died on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Duke Medical Center, Durham. N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the family cemetery behind their home. Rev. Spotswood Graves will officiate.
Diana loved life. She liked to play softball, set back, spades and Trouble. She was competitive and always liked to win. She was a great cook and will be remembered for her little biscuits. Most of all she loved her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who taught her kids to live, love and laugh. She was the one you would run to.
She suffered from emphysema for many years and was a lung transplant survivor for almost twelve years. She had the best disposition in the world. She was a graduate of the former West Hyde High School Class of 1962 where she played on the basketball team.
Surviving are her husband, Sammie E. Williams; a son, Sammie E. Williams, Jr. of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Sherry W. Etheridge and husband, Jay of Engelhard and Pepper Williams of Greensboro; three brothers, Larry Sadler and Garry Sadler and wife, Lynn all of Swan Quarter and Stewart Sadler and wife, Kelly of Brunswick, GA; a sister, Patsy Jo Newman and husband, Mitchell; four grandchildren, Destinee Williams, Drake Etheridge, Dalton Etheridge and Deacon Etheridge; a great-grandson, Braelynn Mercer.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Sadler and a sister, Ernestine Sadler.
