Ernie Nelson Watson, 72, of 325 Wilkinson Station Road, Pantego, died early Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
Born in Hyde County, September 12, 1938, he was the son of the late William Hatten and Myrtie Ballance Watson. He was married to the former Frances Carawan who survives. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, following his service years, he worked as a tug boat captain for MariTrans Corp. He later worked with the N.C. Ferry Division where he retired as captain in 2001.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Randy Nelson Watson of Greenville and Michael Len Watson of Grimesland; two brothers, William Hatten Watson, Jr. of Littleton and Joey Ben Williams of Fairfield; three sisters, Carolyn W. Land of Chicago, IL, Glenda W. Malkuch of Buxton and Sue W. Mann of Fairfield; four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassidy Grace Watson.
