Mr. Lindsay W. Woolard

Lindsay Warren Woolard, age 89, a resident of 412 Aycock Street, Washington, NC died Monday, November 1, 2010 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Alligood Church of God officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on August 6, 1921 to the late Willie Day Woolard and Lucy Hollis Woolard. He was married to the late Ada Virginia Stubbs of Pinetown, NC who preceded him in death on July 12, 1977. He attended Bath High School. Mr. Woolard served his country in the US Army during World War II. He owned and operated the American Barber Shop on Main Street in Washington for many years.
He is survived by a brother, B. Frank Woolard and wife Shirley of Washington. Mr. Woolard was preceded in death by three brothers, Dee Daniel Woolard, Lloyd (Buddy) Woolard of Washington and Wilbur Gray Woolard of Belhaven; five sisters, Dorothy Woolard, Alice W. Woolard, Lydia W. Woolard of Washington, Mary W. Barnum of Stryker, Ohio and Lottie W. Woolard of Vanceboro.
He had many nieces and nephews that are honored to have had him in their lives as an extra grandfather. He loved them very much.
It was the wish of Mr. Woolard that flowers not be sent but contributions in memory be made to Alligood Church of God, 1891 Mill Hole Road, Washington, NC 27889 or Community Home Care &Hospice, 814 Washington Plaza, Washington, NC 27889.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
