Mr. H. Eugene “Gene” Simpson, 83, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at the High Point Regional Hospital Cancer Center.
He was born December 24, 1926 in Burke County, NC to the late Homer and Alice Simpson, and was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School in Glen Alpine, NC. Mr. Simpson resided in High Point for many years and was a member of Laurel Oak Christian Church, formerly the First Church of Christ. He was retired from NAPA Auto Parts.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Nelda W. Simpson. Also surviving are a daughter, Rhonda Hawks and husband, Al, of High Point, and three grandchildren who affectionately called him “Gang Gang”, Chad, Morgan, and Megan Braica of High Point. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Noah Simpson, and a sister, Margaret Tolbert.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Laurel Oak Christian Church in High Point with Pastor Alan Brown officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
