Sybil Louise Cox Calvert, 89, of Fountain Inn, SC, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at National Health Care of Mauldin, SC, after a long period of declining health. Mrs. Calvert was the beloved wife of Toy Edwin Calvert, deceased on July 21, 2004. Born in Simpsonville, she was a daughter of the late Stuart and Ruby Walker Cox. She was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church and had lived in Greenville County most of her life. She was a homemaker and beloved mother of twin daughters, Diane Calvert Cox (Dewey) of Fountain Inn, SC and Suzanne Calvert Brookshire (Curtis) of Washington, NC.
Surviving, in addition to her daughters and their husbands, are a sister, Mary Ann Cox Huff of Simpsonville, SC; three grandsons, Cal Cox (Tina) of Simpsonville, SC, Marc Brookshire (Sarah) of New London, NC, Matthew Brookshire of Brooklyn, NY; four great-grandchildren, Cole Cox, Lilley Brookshire, Rose Brookshire, Jeremy Knight (Kristen); a great-great-granddaughter, Tori Knight; and many nieces and nephews in the Greenville County area. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Willie Cox and a sister, Vivian Cox Word.
The family would like to thank the staff of National Health Care for the care and love shown to Mrs. Calvert over the past three years, and special thanks to Jerry Nix for all the wonderful care and love he has shown to Mrs. Sybil and her daughter, Diane.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn, SC, with Dr. Eddy Mattison officiating.
The family will be at Mrs. Calvert’s residence in Fountain Inn, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Fountain Inn First Baptist Church; 206 N. Weston Street; Fountain Inn, SC 29644 or to the charity of one’s choice.
