Funeral service for Nellie Rue Stowe, 88, of Sumter, S.C., and formerly of Washington, NC, will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 3 p.m. in First United Methodist Church in Washington, NC with burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. Danny Allen will officiate. Memorials may be made in Miss Stowe’s memory to Toumey Hospice, 115 N. Broad St., Suite 410, Sumter, SC 29150 or to the First United Methodist Church, 304 West 2nd Street, Washington, NC 27889.
Miss Stowe died Sunday, November 28, 2010. Born in Engelhard, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Lida Thompson Stowe.
Surviving are her sister, Mary Thomas Stowe Mullikin of Camden; nieces and nephews, Peggy Mullikin Kinney of Sumter, Mary Pat Mullikin Kornegay of Camden, Liza Mullikin Pickett of Albany, GA, Cam Mullikin and Thomas Mullikin both of Camden; 10 great nieces and 6 great nephews; 2 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew. She was predeceased by a brother William Thompson”Bud” Stowe.
