Leon E. Wallace, 80, of Kinston, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Leon was retired from Civil Service at Camp Lejeune, a member of Northwest Christian Church and served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by father, William Thomas Wallace, mother, Delia Woolard, brothers Fenner Thomas, William Purvis, James Howard, sisters Rachel Tankard, Edna Noe and Nancy Rhem.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 at Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. James Kent and Rev. Dexter Wasson officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Cooke Wallace of the home, children Delia Lynn Wallace Glaser and husband William Edward Glaser IV of Belleair, Fla., Norma Leigh Quillen of Morehead City, N.C., brothers Jack Wallace and wife June of Bath, N.C., Dan Wallace and wife Marquita of Goldsboro, N.C. and sister Josephine and husband Weldon Simmons of Garner, N.C. Leon is also survived by his grandchildren Neil Quillen, Mallory Margaret Glaser, step granddaughters, Bryttanie Marie Glaser and Braunwyn Elizabeth Gayle Glaser.
