Mr. Thomas Edward “Ed” Carson

Mr. Thomas Edward “Ed” Carson, age 82, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 8, 2010.
Graveside services will be held at Oakdale Cemetery Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. and will be conducted by Reverend Curtis White. Pallbearers will be Jay Hardin, David Mason, Keith Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Gary Taylor, and John Taylor.
Ed was born Nov. 5, 1928 in Pitt County to the late John and India Langley Carson. On Oct. 2, 1948, he married Virginia Brooks Carson, his wife of 62 years.
Ed was employed by Beaufort County Schools for 40 years. He was also a member of the Bath High School Booster Club where he enjoyed supporting the Bath High School Athletic Program for many years. He was a member of the Bath Christian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder. Ed was also active in community organizations. He had served on the Town of Bath Board of Adjustments and was a charter member of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department. In 1996, he was recognized as the Beaufort County Fireman of the Year.
Ed is survived by his wife, Virginia Brooks Carson; a daughter, Celestia Carson of Bath; a son, Bubs Carson and wife, Pam, of Bath; granddaughters, Melissa Carson Clinkscales and husband, Mark, of Bath, and Stephanie Carson Bibee, and husband, Greg, of Raleigh; great-grandsons, Carson and Reed Clinkscales, of Bath.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home, 209 S. Main St., Bath.
