Mrs. Dorothy Adeline McHarney Harris, age 76, a resident of 8 Fairways Court, Pine Knoll Shores, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at the First Christian Church of Belhaven and will be conducted by Rev. Greg Nunley. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Buddy McHarney, Ray “Junie” Warren, Howard Eaton, Warren Eaton, Les Burbage, Kevin Burbage, Stan Eury, Eddie Williams and Robert Lowe will serve as pallbearers. Faye Burbage, Dottie Cutler, Debbie Rowell, Beth Lowe, Susie Abernathy and Paula Boyd will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 8, 1934 to the late Charles and Lucy Paul McHarney. On Aug. 16, 1953, she married Mack Harris who survives. She was a 1953 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School, was a member of the First Christian Church of Belhaven, Christian Youth Fellowship and was director of the Christian Youth Association (CYA) at Seymour Johnson and Homestead Florida Air Force Base.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Harris, of the home; two sons, Gary Harris and wife, Stephanie, of Fuquay Varina, Keith Harris and wife, Sandy, of Springfield, Virginia; five grandchildren, Allison Harris, Brittany Harris, Ashley Harris, Mackenzie Harris, Amanda Harris and two sisters, Jean Eaton of Raleigh and Lelia Eury of Vass and her dog, Charlie Brown. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
