W. Harry Barber Jr., 65, of 22077 U.S. Highway 64, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Martin General Hospital.
Mr. Barber was born on July 16, 1945, in Martin County to the late William Harry Barber Sr. and Kathleen Bailey Barber. He married Ava Manning Barber on July 28, 1973.
Mr. Barber retired from Carolina Telephone after 28 years of service on Feb. 1, 2000.
Mr. Barber was a member of Reddick’s Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel “Sammy” Ray Barber of Williamston.
He is survived by his wife, Ava Manning Barber of Williamston; daughters, Crystal Barber Ellis and husband, Will, of Windsor, Michelle Leigh Barber and Heather Lynn Barber of Williamston; sisters, Betty Barber Long and husband, Gene, of Williamston and Millie Barber Wilmore and husband, George, of Hertford; brother, Ricky Lee Barber and wife, Patricia, of Suffolk, Va.
Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 13, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at 22077 U.S. Highway 64, Williamston.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. with Reggie Braziel and Archie Gilmer officiating at Biggs Chapel in Williamston and graveside service to follow at Martin Memorial Gardens, Williamston.
