O.P. “Shorty” Watson

Mr. O.P. “Shorty” Watson, age 64, a resident of 1202 W. Main St., Aurora, N.C., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the University Health Systems Inpatient Hospice Center of Greenville, N.C., with his son, Kevin, and his sister-in-law, Gracie Davis, by his side.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at High Hill Cemetery in Aurora conducted by Rev. Wiley Hopkins.
Mr. Watson was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 26, 1945. He was the son of the late Frank Montague Watson and Edith Elsie Rowe Watson. Mr. Watson was a 1965 graduate of Aurora High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, Mr. Watson was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist Badge and the Expert (Rifle M-16).
Mr. Watson was a welder with PCS. He was an avid hunter. Mr. Watson enjoyed agriculture and aquaculture.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Watson and his wife, Angela, of Washington; his brother, William T. “Bill” Watson of Aurora; and his grandchildren, Kevin Lee Watson II and Destiny Nicole Watson, both of Washington.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
