Christina Dunaway Williams, a former Washington, N.C., resident, died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, after a long illness at the age of 79. Christina Williams was a lifelong supporter of the performing arts and founder and director of the Ballet Arts Workshop. A much-beloved and gifted teacher and choreographer, she furnished students to the North Carolina School of the Arts and to major ballet companies.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas A. Williams, and three daughters, Lisa Williams Gelbard, Andrea B. Williams, and Christina Burford; a brother, Col. Roy S. Dunaway, Jr., a sister, Mary Sue Jones, and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Historic Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Flemington, Ga. Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga., 31406, was in charge of arrangements.
