The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to convene a special called meeting at 4:30 p.m. today in the Multi-purpose Room of Building 10 on the Beaufort County Community College campus, according to County Manager Paul Spruill.
The meeting was called to allow the commissioners to prepare for their review next week of the Dec. 10 proposals from Community Health Systems and University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina to take over management of Beaufort Regional Health System.
The board will convene a second special called meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the same location to begin reviewing proposals.
Portions of both meetings may be conducted in closed sessions. The board anticipates reviewing first the proposal from CHS, Spruill said. The Beaufort Regional Health System’s Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a proposal from CHS to operate the hospital, and it recommended that the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners approve the underlying ground lease for the necessary real estate owned by Beaufort County.
