Mrs. Janie Gurganus Roberson, 89, of 1708 W. Main St., Williamston, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Ridgewood Manor in Washington, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Martin Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rick Manning officiating.
Mrs. Roberson was born Feb. 7, 1921 in Martin County. She was the daughter of the late Robert D. Gurganus and the late Emma Mae Wynne. She was a member of Believers Fellowship Center. On Dec. 14, 1941, she married John Bennett Roberson, who died in November 1989.
Survivors include three sons, John C. Roberson and his wife Sue of Washington, Sammy T. Roberson and his wife Linda of Wake Forest and James B. Roberson of Williamston; a sister, Nettie Mae Alston of Windsor; a brother, Joseph S. Gurganus of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Chris Roberson and his wife Nikki, Kirk Roberson, Brooke Roberson, Tommy Roberson, Heath Roberson and his wife Denise and Dana Hayes; a great-grandchild, Claudia Alexis Roberson; and a daughter-in-law, Faye Roberson of Washington.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph S. Roberson.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home, 1708 W. Main St., Williamston.
