Mrs. Wilma Jean Jackson Porter, age 72, a resident of 2756 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Haw Branch Church of Christ and will be conducted by Jason Kirkman and Rev. Lee Porter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Tim Bright, Tony Bright, Fred Porter, Bobby Porter, Donnie Jackson and Danny Jackson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Ronnie Edwards and Bryan Mitchell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Porter was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 7, 1938, to the late Wilmer and Margaret Cox Jackson. On Nov. 1, 1955, she married Leon Gray Porter who survives. She was employed as a unit coordinator with Beaufort County Hospital for 15 years and was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Gray Porter of the home; two sons, Tab Leon Porter of Chocowinity, Kelvin Gray Porter of Chocowinity; one grandson, Matthew Gray Porter; two brothers, Edgar Mitchell Jackson and wife Norma of Stonewall, Danny M. Jackson and wife Ora of New Bern and one sister, Georgia Jackson Torres of Washington.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Haw Branch Church of Christ, Building Fund, 1501 Haw Branch Church Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
