Mr. Stanley Alexander "Santa" Ellefsen, age 80, a resident of 90 Barnes-Foster Loop Road, Belhaven, NC died Thursday January 20, 2011 at UHS Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday January 23, 2011 at Lifegate Free Will Baptist Church of Pamlico Beach officiated by Pastor Eric Hill and Pastor Victor Murdy.
Mr. Ellefsen was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 19, 1930 son of the late Victor Alexander Ellefsen and the late Ester Larsen Ellefsen. He attended Metropolitan High School of Maritime Trades. During his working career he was a carpenter in the cabinet making business, a truck driver and was a realistic Santa Claus. He made a commercial for Ford Modeling Co. and Ricola cough drops as Santa and was on the cover of a J.C. Penney’s Christmas catalog. He was an honorary member of an American Legion Post in New York.
Survivors include four daughters: Diane Murdy of Swansboro, Janice Thomas of Baltimore, MD, Lisa Scrafano of Long Pond, PA and Sonja Foster of Belhaven; three sons: Stanley A. Ellefsen of Havelock, Eric William Ellefsen of Sussex, NJ and Roy Karre Ellefsen of Bronx, NY; a brother: Roy Allen Ellefsen of Rockaway, NJ; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday January 22, 2011 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and at other times at the home of Mr. Ellefsen’s daughter, Sonja Foster, located at 90 Barnes-Foster Loop Road, Belhaven, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorials be made to American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607.
