Pack sweeps tri-meet|WHS swimmers win home finale

The Pam Pack swim team participated in its final home meet Saturday and put forth an impressive effort as both the Washington boys and girls closed out their home schedule with a win.
The Pam Pack girls tallied 135 points to finish ahead of Croatan (116) and White Oak (42), while the boys team racked up 120 points to push past Croatan (116) and White Oak (16).
The Washington girls tallied 10 first-place finishes to lock up Saturday’s victory as the boys took home seven in their win.
Overall, Washington swim coach Spencer Pake was pleased with the performances turned in by both teams.
“It was a good meet for both the boys team and girls team,” Pake said via e-mail. “I am proud of where we are right now as a team. We are really focused and where we need to be heading into the postseason.”
The Pam Pack will participate in the Coastal Conference meet this Wednesday at New Bern.
On Saturday, the Washington girls looked strong as they won the 200-yard medley relay (Kaitlyn Richards, Micheala Daniels, Riziki Omonde, Jessie Penhollow – 2:08.62), 200-yard freestyle (Omonde-2:11.22), 200-yard individual medley (Chandler Beach-2:30.28), 50-yard freestyle (Emily Pfeiffer-26.74), 100-yard freestyle (Omonde-59.24), 100-yard butterfly (Penhollow 1:07.81), 500-yard freestyle (Beach-5:55.11), 200-yard freestyle relay (Pfeiffer, Penhollow, Beach, Ali Amoxapulos -1:54.16), 100-yard breast stroke (Pfeiffer 1:13.25) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Beach, Pfeiffer, Richards, Omonde – 4:10.98).
The boys swam to first in the 200-yard individual medley (Charles Pfeiffer-2:25.30), 50-yard freestyle (Brandon Niederhauser-22.37), 100-yard butterfly (Niederhauser-56.20), 100-yard freestyle (Robert Sandy-57.27), 500-yard freestyle ( Pfeiffer-5:47.63) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Niederhauser, Pfeiffer, Sandy, Coleman Smithwick – 3:49.61).
