Mr. Alvin McGowan Hardison, 75, of 1026 St. Andrews St., Jamesville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Jamesville Christian Church with Rev. Doug Stokes officiating, with burial to follow at Jamesville Cemetery.
Mr. Andrews was born on Nov. 13, 1935, in Martin County. His parents are the late Mr. Adron Hardison and the late Mrs. Ida Pearl Roberson Hardison. He was a member of Jamesville Christian Church, where he had served in the past as a Sunday School Teacher, treasurer and chairman of the board, as well as trustee and choir member. He married Joyce Mizelle Haridson on Aug. 2, 1957.
Mr. Andrews was a graduate of N.C. State in 1960, where he played baseball for three years. He worked as a System Analyst at Weyerhauser.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Hardison; daughters, Sylvia Hardison Oxley and husband Mark of Dayton, Oh. and their children, Nathan and Meredith; Donna hardison Moore and husband Steve of Knightdale and their children Kelsey and Hannah; a half-brother, Myrton Hardison of Chesapeake, Va.; and a special little friend, Jasper.
Preceeded in death by ssiter Orice Hardison, brother James Adron Hardison and his parents.
A visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Jamesville Christian Church Building Fund P.O. Box, Jamesville, N.C. 27846.
