Mrs. Margie W. Cox Keel, 90, a resident of 951 Braddy Road, Washington, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Pastor Leroy K. “Skip” Hurley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Keel’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Keel was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 17, 1920, to the late William Charlie “Boss” Woolard and Calvenia Cox Woolard. On Oct. 14, 1994, she married Clayton J. Keel, who survives. Mrs. Keel was a homemaker and a member of Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Keel is survived by five daughters: Jackie Cox Hadley of Washington, Sondra Cox Lee of Plymouth, Brenda Cox Alligood and husband, Neil of Washington, Barbara Cox Woolard of Pinetown and Sharon “Jo Jo” Singleton of Washington, a son: Artie Cox and wife, Marie of Washington, a sister: Bonnie W. Boyd of Washington, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Keel was predeceased by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home located at 951 Braddy Road, Washington.
