Mrs. Mary Rosalea Emahiser Price, 89, a resident of 56 Gold Rock Drive, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Memorial services will be ay 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Darryl Evans.
Mrs. Price was born in Akron, Ind., on March 8, 1921, to the late Jay and Valura Emma Patterson Emahiser. She was a 1938 graduate of Akron High School, she then went on to graduate from Indiana University in 1942 with a degree in business. While in college, she met Albert Price, whom she married on June 12, 1943, in New York City. After the war, they resided in Akron and then Rochester, Ind., where Mary taught Jr. and Sr. High School business and English classes. After retirement, they moved to Estero, Fla. Al passed away in 2003 after celebrating 60 years of marriage. Mary then came to Chocowinity to be close to her family. Mary loved games of all kinds, drawing and painting, was a lifelong Republican and enjoyed studying the Bible. She and Al were always active members of the Methodist churches wherever they lived.
Survivors include her daughter Pat Mitchell and husband, Dale of Chocowinity; two grandchildren, Scott Mitchell and wife, Jenny of Ashburn, Va., Leslie Lochman and husband, Rob of Charlotte; five great-grandchildren, Caroline Mitchell, Emily Mitchell, Isabelle Lochman, Jayson Lochman and Henry Lochman. She was preceded in death by her brother Billy J. Emahiser.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dale and Pat Mitchell, 204 Appomattox Lane, Chocowinity.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, General Fund, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
