Mrs. Marie Craddock Sexton, 85, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. She was born August 4, 1925, to the late George Wesley and Nancy Alice White Craddock. She was predeceased by a sister, Sabra Spruill and three brothers, Richard, Marvin and Donald Craddock.
Marie was a devoted wife and mother and her Christian spirit was evident in her daily life. She was a longtime member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church and loved her church family.
Marie is survived by her husband, Roger Leigh Sexton of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Faye Elliott and husband Roger of Angier, NC, Joyce Van Horn and husband, Emory of Creswell, NC; son Roger L. Sexton, Jr. and wife Arlinda of Greenville, SC, two sisters, Pennie Craft of Plymouth, NC, Ruth Spruill of Roper, NC; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Hope Free Will Baptist Church by Pastor Leonard Bowers. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Walker’s Horner Chapel and at other times from the home, 74 Roxie Reese Road. Memorial gifts may be made to Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 156 Roxie Reese Road, Plymouth, NC 27962.
