Dorothy “Dot” Waters

Mrs. Dorothy Woolard “Dot” Waters, 73, a resident of 17568 U.S. Highway 264 East, Pinetown, N.C., died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at University Health Systems Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Woodrow Freeze, III. Burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery. Jason Boyd, Eric Cuthrell, Gary Dickerson, Joey Dickerson, Brett Woolard and Tyler Cooper will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Dot was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 5, 1937, daughter of the late James Edward “Ed” Woolard and the late Cottie Mae Modlin Woolard. She was a 1956 graduate of Pantego High School and married Leroy Clayton Waters, Jr. on March 8, 1956. She was a retired clerk in accounting having worked with K-Mart and the State Employees Credit Union. Mrs. Dot was the secretary/reporter for the Yeatesville Perpetual Cemetery Association and a poll keeper with the Beaufort County Board of Elections. She was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church, a member of the choir and a member of its Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving along with Mrs. Dot’s husband Leroy of the home are three daughters: Karen and her husband Gerry of Manalapan, N.J., Katherine of Austin, Texas, and Renee and her husband Stuart of Tampa, Fla.; a son: Ryan of Robersonville; a brother: Wayne Woolard of Belhaven; five sisters: Betty Jean Cuthrell of Pinetown, Phyllis Dickerson and Carolyn Boyd both of Plymouth, Brenda Cooper of Pantego and Becky Moore of Pinetown and a grandson: Alex. Mrs. Dot was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Eric.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 29, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and at other times at the home.
