Mr. Charles Earl Dees, 63, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Charles, born the son of the late E. Johnston and Josephine Roberson Dees, was a native of Pitt County and a 1965 graduate of J.H. Rose High School. For the last 35 years, he had made his home in Washington, where he operated Dees Accounting Service. He also had worked for Proctor & Gamble for more than 20 years. He was a member of Beaufort County Ruritan’s Club and the Calhorn Hunting Club, where he served as treasurer.

An avid outdoorsman, Charles was fondly known as “The Hunter.” He particularly enjoyed quail hunting, working his bird dogs, and fishing.

Charles befriended many and never knew a stranger. He loved serving his many clients in his tax business because he considered them family. A loving father, grandfather, and best friend, Charles will be greatly missed by the many who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer LeAnne Dees in 1980.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan D. Ayers of Washington, and Ashlea D. Morales of Greenville; grandchildren, Stephanie LeAnne Keech and Seth Michael Keech, both of Washington, Angela Elizabeth Morales, Charles Alexander Abarca, and Marisela Isabel Abarca; and loving former wife and caregiver, Frances E. Dees, of Washington.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital, University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, P.O. Box 8369, Greenville, NC 27835-8369 or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
