Jerry “Dean” Jackson

Mr. Jerry “Dean” Jackson, 71, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Jackson, a native of Beaufort County, had spent most of his life in Pitt County. He was a graduate of Washington High School and later served in the US Army. He was employed with Weyerhaeuser Company in Washington with the Forestry Division for 40 years, retiring in 1996 and a member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church in Bethel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius M and Maude Moore Jackson; two brothers; and a sister.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Woolard Jackson; daughters, Rhonda Jackson Edwards and husband, Bill of Cape Carteret and Jerri Amanda Jackson of Washington; grandchildren, Carlee Harris, Jessica and Justin Joyner; great-grandchild, Adrian Lowery; sisters, Eloise Cherry of Bear Grass and Alene Bowen of Williamston; and brother Dail Jackson of Chocowinity.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
