Mr. George A. Badey, 72, a resident of Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, N.C., died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Maryland, with his family by his side. A celebration of life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations in Washington, N.C., officiated by the Rev. Jim Cooke. Military honors and a reception for family and friends will follow the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Badey was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Cold Spring, N.Y., son of the late George and Katherine King Badey. He was a retired Licensed Land Surveyor and self-employed with Badey & Watson Surveying and Engineering P.C. Mr. Badey served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Dian Wascheck Badey. Mr. Badey was raised in Peekskill, N.Y., and lived in Mahopac, N.Y., until 1999. He was a member of the Washington Noon Rotary International and Mahopac Rotary, and the New York State Association of Land Surveyors.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Alan Badey of Mahopac, N.Y., Bryan Badey of Garner, N.C., and Karl Badey of Glastonbury, Conn.; daughter, Pamela Badey Romel of Pittsboro, N.C.; brother, Philip Badey of Lake Luzerne, N.Y.; sister, Ann Badey Olson of Pinehurst, N.C.; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Linda Badey Croft.
