Mrs. Gilda L. Woolard

Mrs. Gilda Gray Lewis Woolard, 82, a resident of 10144 U.S. Highway 17 S., Vanceboro, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and will be conducted by Pastor Jerry Smith. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Derek Elks, Justin Elks, Nick Woolard, David Grasha, Thomas Bland and John Toler will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 16, 1929, to the late Shelly and Rena Hodges Lewis. She married Julis “Pete” Woolard who preceded her in death. She worked many years with the garment factory in Washington and Smith’s Food Pride in Chocowinity. She was a member of the Gorham Swamp Pentecostal Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Woolard and wife Judy of Vanceboro, Harold Woolard and wife Jeanette of Chocowinity, Jeff Woolard and wife Kathy of Washington; one daughter, Judy Mitchell and husband James of Chocowinity; two brothers, Bill Lewis and wife Jean of Chocowinity, Buddy Lewis and wife Eunice of Bloxom, Va.; three sisters, Barbara “Cressie” Bright of Chocowinity, Jaquelyn “Jack” Asby of Washington, Robin Vaught of Chocowinity, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn Woolard and Douglas Woolard and one daughter, Barbara Worsley.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home, 10144 U.S. Highway 17 S., Vanceboro, N.C.
