Betty Lou Mills Arnold

Mrs. Betty Lou Mills Arnold, 74, was gently placed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2011.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Kevin Woolard of First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, N.C.

Mrs. Arnold was born on December 20, 1936, in Grimesland, N.C., to the late Herbert and Annie Ruth Mills. A native of Beaufort County, she lived her entire life in the Beaufort and Pitt County area. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. On October 2, 1953, Betty Lou married James Stanley Arnold, Sr., who survives. She was a 1954 graduate of Grimesland High School, Grimesland, N.C. From their loving union, they were blessed with three children, her daughter, Kathryn Wetherington and husband, Robert; sons, James S. “Sandy” Arnold, Jr. and fiancée, Kristie Hawkins, Michael Arnold and wife, Tracy, all of the same community as their parents. She is also survived by grandsons, Glenn Wetherington and wife, Gennia, of Washington, N.C., Jeremy Wetherington and wife, Jennifer, of Chocowinity, Christopher Arnold and wife, Jessica, of Washington, NC, Jordan Arnold and Andrew Patrick, both of Grimesland, N.C.; granddaughter, Alexis Arnold, of Grimesland, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Brian and Ashley Winslow, Cameron and Latham Matkins, Tanner Rouse, Christian Russell and Blake Arnold; Mrs. Arnold was also blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Payten Woolard.  Betty Lou has a sister, Geraldine Taylor and husband, George; a brother, Herbert “Buddy” Mills, Jr. and wife, Grace, both of her siblings live in the same community as their sister. She has one niece, Laura Respass and husband, Tommy, of Bath; two nephews, Randy Taylor and wife, Rhonda, of Chocowinity, N.C., and Allen Mills and wife, Terry, of Grimesland, N.C.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
