I was happy to see the article regarding postponing building the new police station. I really don’t see the need to spend all the money on a new police station. It says something about it not meeting federal standards. I would love to know what those issues are and could they not be fixed a lot cheaper than $4 million? I just don’t think we need to do this at this time.
Editor’s note: It’s not the proposed new police station that does not meet state and federal standards. It’s the existing police station that does not meet those standards.

I was driving through a neighborhood and saw a sign that stated, “Outsource the City Council, not the police department.” The citizens of Washington need the police department and sheriff’s department to work together as a powerful team.

Can someone explain to me why the post office, on Fourth of July weekend, will be closed at 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday. This is ridiculous.

Congratulations to the ECU Club baseball team for winning the national championship. Thank you to MVP Mackey for taking the game serious, on and off the field, by wearing his hat the way it is supposed to be worn.
