Stanton Rust Prentiss, 95, of Bath, N.C., passed away June 4, 2011. Mr. Prentiss was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley S. Prentiss in May 2006. They are survived by a daughter, Randi Prentiss of Texas.
Mr. Prentiss was a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain, a retired Lt. Cmdr., U.S. Naval Reserve; lifetime holder, FCC’s general radiotelephone operator’s license; retired, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA; lifetime member, Inst. Electrical and Electronic Engineers; former Washington Correspondent, St. Louis Globe-Democrat; former night news editor WTOP/CBS radio; and former employee of the Washington Post. He also authored 51 technical books and many news columns on marine, satellite, communications and high definition television.
