Charles Russell Brown Jr., 53, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Charles, a Pitt County native, was a 1976 graduate of North Pitt High School and attended Pitt Community College. For more than 30 years, he had been employed with United Machine Works, Inc. He attended Covenant United Methodist Church. Charles was very active, he enjoyed tennis, running, playing his guitar, and was an avid Red Sox and Carolina Basketball fan. Most of all he enjoyed his mother’s cooking.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mollie and Johnny Harris; and Minnie and Leon Brown.
He is survived by his son, Chad Brown, of Salisbury, Md.; parents, Charles Russell Sr. and Shirley Brown; sisters Wanda Dixon and husband, Tal, and Sheryl Nichols and husband, Glenn, all of Stokes; girlfriend, Cheryl Martin, of Winterville; four nieces, Amy Flora and husband, Mitchell, of Grimesland, Cara Stepps and husband, Ronnie, of Greenville, Mandy Nichols of Greenville, and Candice Nichols of Stokes; nephew, Brent Dixon of Charlotte; great-nieces Hannah and Bethany Flora; and great-nephew Caleb Flora.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
