To the men who are paving U.S. Highway 264 east of Washington: I salute you. You are tougher men that I will ever be.
I see that only two of the 14 schools in Beaufort County met AYP. That is only 7 percent. I think the school board and administration office need to stop fighting over money and start teaching students. We are way behind.
Something needs to be done about our school system. I read in the paper that only two of our schools passed the AYP. Is it any wonder when a school tells middle-school children and their parents that their previously assigned summer reading is no longer required? This was because scores were so low on reading end-of-grade tests. Does this make sense to anyone? It’s like saying: “Yes, we did bad on end-of-grade tests, so we don’t have to do any summer reading.” Go figure!
What is the law about dogs on the waterfront? I thought it was not allowed, but every time I walk down there, there are a number of dogs.
Are there any changes to school uniforms for this upcoming school year?
